Potters Bar & Barnet Local RSPB Group

Report on the Group Annual General Meeting

by Pamela Moore

The group’s AGM was held on 21 September 2009 and was attended by the Committee and approximately 60 group members.

Following adoption of the 2008 minutes, Stan Bailey presented his report.

He was pleased to report on another good year. Jacky Walker had booked excellent speakers, including some who were new to the group. This year, evening meetings had been held at St John Hall, but this had proved to be too small. Therefore, from January 2010, meetings will be held on Fridays at Tilbury Hall.

Stan thanked Frances Attrill for her organisation of coach trips - weekend, mid-week and holiday breaks. Her efforts in this respect, and also the quizzes which she arranges with the help of Jan Luke, add significant amounts to the group’s donations to the Society. Our Sales Team attended several events which were very successful and profitable and thanks were given to everyone who provided support on the stallsBruce Bennett continues to raise funds with his talks to other organisations. Pat Budd also contributes to fundraising by selling bird food. Thanks were also given to Sally Bennett for the excellent work she does in producing our newsletters and to Ian Cook for his role as webmaster.

The Treasurer, Marian Crecraft, reported on the financial accounts for the year to 31 March 2009. The 100 Club had made a donation of £300 and it was noted that there were still vacancies.

Bruce Bennett was re-elected to the Committee. Shirley Rowe, having been seconded to the Committee in April, was formally elected.

Long service awards were presented to Stan Bailey, Frances Attrill, Jacky Walker, Lesley Causton, Pamela Moore and Ian Cook.

The formal business was followed by a talk and digital presentation by Brian Nobbs.
